This is so true. I run an online business also. When people see me post some goods on my status, they feel I am making huge sales #smiles# but it is not like that. Sometimes there will not be sales for a month or two but I still keep posting because I need to be consistent in whatever I do.

Many have tagged me as an independent lady, a boss woman, just because I run an online store but what they don’t know is that because I post goods every day does not equate me getting sales all day. There are times I would want to give up, I think I gave up at a point but had to start again because being idle was more depressing and God said “He would bless the works of my hand” So, I need to do something for God to see what to bless. My major source of strength of being an entrepreneur in this country, is God.

They feel you and a millionaire once you own a business but they don't get to know that they are bad days too.

I understand you my dear.

God will keep helping you, and bring customers your way.

It was loving reading from you ❤️

Going through this read, I could relate better. My mom owns a store too but a tailoring material store. There are days when you make beautiful sales and you anticipate coming back home to remit the money and receive praises and "special treatment", but there are days when you're scared of coming back home cos when you remit the total money you sold for that day, it'll seem like you were asleep in the store the whole day.

Talking about losses, I have caught customers trying to outsmart me by stealing goods. It's shameful to even know that most of these people are married men and women. What are you stealing that i can't give you?

Another saddening thing is those that will pour themselves on you, telling you how bad it is for them, pleading for you to release goods for them on credit, promising heaven and earth, but at the end of the day, you'd realize you just watched "another reasons not to trust human beings."

We have shared the negatives about owing and running a business, but I sure can tell you that there are benefits to it too and here are some:

● You can choose to go do your business whenever you like unlike corporate/employed jobs that you have to be there on week days and on time.

● You have peace of mind. Like when 9-5 workers are sweating their clothes in Lagos traffic in the early hours of the morning, you can choose to remain on your bed and go to your store at your convenience. No pressure.

● You have the liberty to engage in and attend to side businesses at ease. Imagine a 9-5 worker that has an event sheduled on a week day, he/she has to inform their superior on time, sometimes weeks before and their request might even be turned down. But as someone that runs your own business, you can choose to travel out of the city for days if you wish to attend whatever you wish to attend to.

Hmmm, there are other things too to say when it comes to being a business owner but I guess I'll stop here. Meanwhile, this was a worthy read. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. You'll be fine at the end of the day🌹

Thank you Samuel for writing back 🙂

This is so beautiful to read.

You really explained in detail and I love it.

Just as we have the negative part of it, the positive part is also beautiful, honestly... Like you have a lot of time to yourself, no worrying about being late to work, you can choose not to even go to the store if you want unlike when you work a 9-5.

Thank you so much for this. I appreciate your feedback ❤️
