Hello People of My Laive,
Welcome back to our writing channel.
It’s a brand new month, the second half of the year and I hope things are going smoothly on your end.
For me? Ah. I’ve been holding on tight to the hem of Jesus’ garment. Not even loosely o. Tight grip. Because at this point ehn, if Jesus makes one small turn, the garment fit tear. #GodAbeggg 😭
Today, I honestly don’t know what to write… but I still want to write to you.
Yes, you.
The one who reads my words quietly but deeply. The one who laughs, nods, tears up, and maybe even whispers a silent prayer while scrolling. Today, let’s talk about something we think we already know, yet many of us are still living like we don’t.
IDENTITY.
If I asked you, “What’s your identity in Christ?” I believe you’d have something to say. Maybe even plenty.
But person of my laive, let’s be honest; are you living in the reality of that identity? Are you grounded in it, rooted in it, unmoved even when life tries to throw your past in your face?
Let’s talk, because this isn’t just Bible talk. This is life.
Don’t Build Your Identity Around What Broke You
You see, I used to think my personality was “quiet, reserved, always second-guessing.” But over time, I realized that wasn’t personality. It was trauma. That wasn’t “just how I am.” It was the scar tissue of who I used to be before Jesus found me.
Some of us have built a whole brand around what broke us.
We say things like:
“That’s just how I was raised.”
“I’ve always been like this.”
“I can’t change.”
But here’s the truth: we’re not called to identify with our past , we’re called to identify its impact. There's a big difference.
You can acknowledge that your childhood was tough… That your heart was broken… That you were abandoned, overlooked, misunderstood… But don’t let that name you. Because that’s not who you are.
Identity in Christ begins with understanding who you used to be and then realizing that person no longer lives here.
Paul said it in Ephesians:
“And you were dead in your trespasses and sins…”
“…like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.”
But now? “God, being rich in mercy… made us alive in Christ.”
This is massive.
You were dead. You were lost. You were broken.
But now? You’re alive. You’re found. You’re whole.
Who You Were and Who You Are Now
You cannot fully walk in your new identity if you haven’t acknowledged what you’ve been delivered from. This is why some believers don’t understand the weight of the cross, because they don’t know how far they’d fallen before Jesus caught them.
And so, we keep walking like the “old man” even though we’ve been made new. Still angry. Still anxious. Still insecure. Still stuck.
But listen; if you find yourself behaving like your old self, it’s not because you’re not saved. It’s because the light hasn’t dawned on you well enough. The love hasn’t settled deep enough. The knowledge of what Jesus really did hasn’t saturated your soul yet.
You Are Now — The Beloved of God
Let’s start here: your new identity begins with this truth: You are loved. Madly. Deeply. Personally.
“See what kind of love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God — and that is what we are!” — 1 John 3:1
You’re not just generally loved, you’re personally chosen.
Not just included, but wanted.
You know how no one can convince you that you’re not a woman (or a man)?
That’s the same way your identity in Christ should be — unshakable.
You are loved. And you’re loved on a level that can’t be explained with regular words.
Too many of us are still introducing ourselves with our wounds.
“Hi, I’m rejection.”
“Hi, I’m heartbreak.”
“Hi, I’m failure, disappointment, anxiety — take your pick.”
We don’t say it out loud. But it shows.
In how we shrink. In how we self-sabotage. In how we refuse to try again.
In how we say “that’s just how I am,” when deep down, it’s not how you are — it’s what life did to you. And somehow, we built a whole house around it.
The Problem With That…
Is that you weren’t called to build your life on trauma, heartbreak, or failure. You were called to build your life on the Rock — Christ. You are not what you went through. You are who God says you are.
But the danger is this: when you don’t know who you are, you will keep becoming who you used to be.
And many of us are stuck, not because we haven’t been delivered, but because we haven’t moved.
Where You Are
Let’s ask the real question: Where are you now?
Not physically. Spiritually. Emotionally. Mentally. Identity-wise.
Because here’s the thing: if you don’t realize where you are, you might keep acting like you’re where you used to be.
You’re seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). But you’re still functioning like someone stuck in the shadows.
You’ve been made alive in Christ… But you’re still rehearsing dead stories.
You’ve been brought near… But you’re still living like you’re afar off.
Person of my laive, where you are right now is IN CHRIST.
Not in shame. Not in guilt. Not in your childhood trauma. Not in that failed relationship. Not in the mistakes of 2021 or the heartbreak of 2023.
You are in Christ. And Christ is in God. And nothing can snatch you out of that positioning.
But — if you don’t know where you are, you’ll act like you’re somewhere else.
That’s why Paul kept writing, “Don’t you know?”
He wasn’t being sarcastic. He was exposing a gap.
You’re misbehaving because you don’t know where you stand.
What You Have
Now let’s go deeper, because identity doesn’t stop at who you are and where you are. It also includes what you have.
Let me say it like this: What’s the point of being the daughter/son of a king, if you still live like a beggar? #Kaiiiiiii
So let’s talk about what you already have in Christ.
You have access — to God’s presence, His wisdom, His voice, His peace, His help, and His provision. You’re not knocking outside the gate. You’ve been welcomed into the throne room. You belong there. Hebrews 4:16 says you can come boldly — not timidly.
You have authority — over darkness, lies, sin, fear, and every manipulation of hell. Luke 10:19 says Jesus gave us authority. But authority unused is just potential wasted. It’s like owning a debit card and not knowing the PIN.
You have the Holy Spirit — not junior Jesus, not a watered-down version of God. The full, living, breathing presence of God is inside you. John 14:26 says the Spirit teaches and reminds us. You don’t have to navigate life clueless. Just ask: “Holy Spirit, help me.”
You have an inheritance — Romans 8:17 says you are a co-heir with Christ. That means what Jesus has, you have access to. Grace. Peace. Victory. Eternal life. Purpose. Promise. Everything.
And finally, you have love — deep, unshakable, unstoppable love. Romans 8:38–39 says nothing can separate you from it. Not sin, not fear, not even you.
You are loved now not when you finally "get it right."
Now. As you are.
So Let This Be Your Reminder
You're not just saved to escape hell.
You’re saved to walk in power, love, and purpose here and now.
Don’t build your identity on what broke you.
Don’t stay stuck in who you were.
Don’t keep wandering when you’ve already been seated.
And don’t live empty when heaven has already filled your account.
In Christ, you have everything.
NOW, GO LIVE LIKE IT!!!!. 🤍
Love always,
