Have you ever poured your heart and soul into something, only to have someone criticize and dismiss it? I have
As a writer, I used to struggle with insecurity and doubt. Before sharing my work, I'd seek validation from others, questioning whether it was worth publishing. I poured my heart into every word, only to question its worthiness. "Is this good enough?" "Will they love it?" I remember the sting of criticism, the weight of self-doubt, and the crippling fear of not being enough.
But then came the day I created something truly special—my masterpiece. I was ecstatic, proud, and relieved. Finally, I had produced something I loved.
But then, a friend's harsh words shattered my confidence: "This is trash. Start over." I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. Tears streamed down my face as I wondered, "Was I foolish to think I was good enough?" How could someone dismiss my hard work and passion?
But then I realized: This is exactly how we treat our bodies.
God, the ultimate Creator, crafted us with love and care. We are His masterpieces.
Yet, we often criticize and compare ourselves, echoing negative self-talk: "I'm not good enough," "I'm a failure," "I'm not pretty enough." Imagine how God feels when we reject His handiwork.
The Bible reminds us: "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." (Genesis 1:31) We are God's beautiful creations, crafted with purpose and love.
Don't let anyone, including yourself, diminish God's awesome work in your life. Embrace your uniqueness, flaws and all. You are a masterpiece.
Today, choose to see yourself through God's eyes. Let go of self-doubt and criticism. Embrace your uniqueness, flaws and all. You are a radiant, confident, and beautiful masterpiece.
We're created in the best image and shouldn't let others tell us otherwise. Thank you for this beautiful piece
I love how you brought us into seeing things from God's perspective. We often fail to do that, but from this read, it's good we learn to understand looking down on ourselves, and even others, is an act of undermining or downplaying God's intentional masterpiece
